Preventive Maintenance

A couple of weeks ago my laptop’s power cord broke and I didn’t have another one. I ordered one quickly and then pulled out my dinosaur to use for a few days. I immediately learned why Preventive Maintenance is so important. All I could think of was my father and the PS Magazine he used to bring home when I was growing up. The magazine is the Army’s comic book (sort of) that reminds soldiers about preventive maintenance. I grew up reading it and listening to my father tell the guys to do their PM correctly.

As I began deleting and updating that old computer I could just hear his voice saying over and over again “What have I told you about PM? “ He of course is right and I learned a valuable lesson. I am going to perform monthly maintenance on the dinosaur because you just never know when you might need it. I am keeping the dinosaur for that very reason. Well that I use it to store all of my photos on which is something else I need to change. I need an external hard drive where I can back everything up once a week, store photos, and grab and go in an emergency.

I need to give a huge thanks to the Virginia Commonwealth University for allowing me to use the photos of the magazine. On another side note I know that someone will bring it up: Yes Will Einser’s signature is very similar to Walt Disney’s. they have never worked together and it is assumed that since hey both worked with brushes this is the reason for the similarities.  However Will Eisner has worked with some of the best in the comic book world.
