Try it Tuesday: Velveeta Boxed Potatoes

We love potatoes here in our home! We do and as I was walking through the grocery store the other day I saw this box of potatoes and thought they would be a perfect fit for Crossroads Media Hub’s Try it Tuesday Link Up. Each Tuesday here I will bringing some new food, kitchen gadget, or trick that I have tried out and letting you know if it actually worked or not. I didn’t even know that Velveeta had boxed potatoes and I thought, why not?

Now just like with any other boxed potato you boil water, milk and butter. I read the instructions on the back and boiled the amounts the box said was needed for one packet. Once the liquids were boiling I added in the potatoes and the packet of Velveeta Cheese that came in the box. The first thing I noticed is that there was too much water.

The direction say to dump the package into the pot. I would not advise doing this because you won’t be able to just if you have too much water until it is too late. I would slowly add the liquid, a cup at a time. To make up for the extra water I added a little plain potato flakes. It didn’t change the taste or anything like that. Just gave us the right consistency. All in all these were great potatoes and I am glad that I made them!
