Why Holiday Homes are Better Than Hotels for Large Families

Why Holiday Homes are Better Than Hotels for Large Families

Planning a holiday for a large family can be stressful. Finding accommodation to suit everyone’s needs is often the biggest challenge. Hotels are convenient but they can be restrictive and expensive when booking multiple rooms. Holiday homes provide a flexible, affordable alternative that offers more freedom and facilities for big groups. Here are some key reasons why holiday homes are better suited to large families than hotels.

Space and Privacy

The main advantage of a holiday home is having ample room to spread out. Even large hotel suites can feel cramped with lots of people. A holiday home allows privacy for parents as well as personal space for kids and teens. Different generations can relax in their own area or communal zones. There’s no need to tiptoe around sleeping babies or keep hyper kids quiet for other guests’ benefit. Holiday homes are also ideal for multigenerational vacations with grandparents. Extra bathrooms reduce the morning rush hour!

Home Comforts

Hotels provide basic facilities, but a holiday home offers true home-from-home comforts. Having a fully equipped kitchen is a huge plus for big groups, saving money on eating out for every meal. Kids can enjoy their favourite cereals while adults savour a real morning coffee. Self-catering allows flexibility for fussy eaters, special diets, and feeding times around days out. Laundry facilities also avoid piles of washing after returning from holiday. Kids will appreciate their own bedrooms with familiar bedding, along with more play space like gardens, games rooms and kids’ dens.

Freedom and Flexibility

Booking connected hotel rooms can feel restrictive, with a constant awareness of neighbouring guests. A holiday home allows families to relax and enjoy time together without noise limitations or worrying about disturbing others. Mealtimes, bedtimes and mornings are dictated by your family’s needs. You can come and go as you please without traipsing through receptions or waiting for lifts, which is especially handy with babies, toddlers and all their equipment! Holiday homes offer flexibility to host wider family and friends for meals or overnight stays. Some even allow pets, so there is no need to board the dog.

Facilities and Activities

Many holiday homes boast fantastic shared facilities like swimming pools, playgrounds, games rooms and organised kids’ clubs. Hours of fun are on the doorstep, often free or discounted for guests. Kids can make friends and enjoy activities tailored for their age while parents enjoy couple time. You can even find a large holiday home Yorkshire with hot tub – which is perfect for unwinding together once the little ones are in bed. Sports like tennis and football cater for teens while toddlers enjoy swings and sandpits. Cottage complexes may have restaurants, shops and bars so the whole gang can eat out easily.

Affordability

Overall, a holiday home gives better value with more amenities and space for the price. Sharing costs makes large family holidays more affordable, especially if grandparents contribute. Home comforts like self-catering and laundry can save hundreds compared to dining out for all meals or paying hotel laundry fees. Less formal properties also avoid sizeable resort fees and taxes added to hotel bills. Many homes allow peak and off-peak pricing, so big savings are possible during school holidays by opting for low season. Local owners often negotiate discounts for large groups if you contact them directly.

With abundant space and home comforts, a holiday home is the perfect fuss-free basecamp for big family adventures and precious memories together.

We always rent a vacation home instead of staying at a hotel. I can’t even remember the last time I stayed at a hotel. A vacation home with a hot tub would be heavenly right now.

I never thought about this before but renting a home sounds like it has some great benefits over a hotel.
