Order Your Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF Boxes {#globalteamof200}

Oct. 11, 2012

trick-or-treat-for-unicef

Through Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF, more than $167 million has been raised, providing children in 190 countries and territories with much-needed health care and immunizations, clean water and sanitation, nutrition, education, emergency relief and more. That is truly wonderful and such a great way to teach your children the importance of helping others. The original Kids helping Kids campaign began after World War II with kids collecting coins to helps those affected by the war.

Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF is one of the longest-running youth volunteer initiatives in America. For 62 years, it has helped motivate kids to become active global citizens while teaching the fundamental value of helping others.  Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF encourages kids of all ages to help raise funds for their peers in developing countries by going door-to-door on Halloween night or participating in other festive fundraising activities.

New this year  is the Create-a-Character contest. For the first time in the Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF campaign history, those trick-or-treating  are invited to submit original designs for their own collection boxes. Submitted designs will have a chance to be part of Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF’s 2013 limited edition collection. A winning design from each category (children ages 4-8, 9-12, and 13 years and older) will be chosen and announced on Halloween, Oct. 31. The contest will run from September 1 through October 26.

    What a great organization! Not only are you helping those less fortunate in other parts of the world, but instilling good values in your own children, as well. I love it!

    I remember doing this years ago as a child! (yes it has been around a long time) The boxes were tin, and we went around trick or treating for Unicef with our Brownie troop and later daisies and girl scouts. I know the 4H clubs did it too. The schools also really promoted it. We would trick or treat for Unicef first and then go out in our normal candy gathering.
    I am glad you posted about this it is a way for kids to do a good thing and dress up and have fun.

    Wow! I have known about UNICEF all my life, but did not know about the Trick or Treat program. How fun for kids to design boxes!

    We’re actually doing this this year since my son is only 8 mos. old. Obviously he can’t eat candy, but all of our neighbors want to see him Trick or Treat. Such a good cause!
